Christmas is all about spending time with family and friends--but it can also be hard on the budget. For Christmas this year, show your family that you're thinking of them without going over budget with these thoughtful, yet affordable holiday gifts.
For the grandparents: Homemade family artwork
Flex your creative juices by giving grandparents a custom-made wall art that they can proudly hang on the wall at home. Try putting together a huge collage of candid family photos or frame up artworks by the grandchildren. You can also enlist the help of kids, cousins, aunts, and uncles to create your very own family tree decorated with artwork from each family member, and have it custom-printed to be hung as wall art.
For cousins: Board and card games
Board and card games are inexpensive group gifts that can bring hours of enjoyment for all members of the family and can help strengthen relationships with extended family members. So, encourage fun family bonding moments and turn your holiday reunion with your relatives into game night by gifting classic board games such as Charades, Jenga, and Monopoly. For older cousins, try giving (and playing!) card games such as Uno and Exploding Kittens.
For mom: DIY Body Scrub Set
Nothing says “I love you, mom” better than a special, all-natural body scrub set that she can use on her well-deserved me time. You can make your special mix of body scrub using coffee grounds, sugar, or sea salt with natural oils like coconut or olive oil, and pack the scrub in decorative air-tight containers.
For dad: Insulated travel mug
Show your dad your appreciation this holiday season with an insulated travel mug or tumbler to keep his coffee hot all morning—and even while on-the-go. Personalize the mug or tumbler with a family photo, or his most iconic daddy joke. Pair the mug with a pack of his favorite coffee beans.
For teens and young adults: Scratch map
Older children and young adults bitten by the travel bug will enjoy a world scratch map that can double as interesting wall decor. They can scratch off all the places they have visited (or plan on visiting!), and learn new facts about popular destinations at the same time. Inspire nationalism in your young travelers by getting them a Philippines scratch map. Scratch maps are available in specialty stores and online.
For kids: Books
Encourage your children to develop a reading habit by gifting them with your favorite book. Make your gift even more special by writing them a note that explains why you love the book. Or, you can sit down and read the book with them. Experts say young children who read with their parents regularly grow up to be book-lovers.
